Herani was raised and nurtured by her Ngati Toa whanau at Takapuwahia, in Porirua. Her many positive experiences at Takapuwahia shaped an undying confidence in her own ability, and commitment to promote ideas that contribute to Iwi, Maori and community wellbeing.
Herani brings strong business and governance skills to her Te Matarau ā Maui Board role. She has owned and run several successful businesses, gaining insight to the challenges faced by small and medium Māori business owners. She see’s things in wide scale and is often able to bring new insights to support change thinking and buy-in.
Herani is committed to supporting Te Matarau ā Maui to connect and support Māori businesses to grow in the Wellington region. She believes a prosperous and well-balanced Māori economy creates healthy whānau; healthy whānau contribute to a thriving environment; a thriving environment forms the backdrop to a developing economy.
