Ngāti Huia, Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Porou
Following a successful career in HR, Shane returned to Horowhenua, where in a short space of time he was elected to the governance board of Te Rūnanga o Raukawa Whāiti and later head hunted for the role of HR Manager for Te Rūnanga o Raukawa Inc. He went on to play a lead role in the establishment of the Raukawa Whānau Ora entity and has held the position of Operations Manager (2IC) for the past four years. In these roles he has honed his expertise working with kaupapa tuku iho in employment relations, governance, the development of policy and in operational management. He is a long-time member of Te Rōpū Pakihi the Horowhenua and Kāpiti Māori Business Network and has served on the Board previously. Shane was also involved with the development and implementation of Te Aho the Maori Economic Development Strategy for Māori mai ī Rangitīkei ki Whitireia.
Shane affiliates to Ngāti Huia, Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Porou. He is the Chair of the Kikopiri Marae Trustees his Raukawa hapū, and is the Chair of Tūmatakahuki Inc, a cluster of twelve of the thirteen Raukawa iwi and hapū that reside within the Horowhenua district. As a new member to the Board of Te Matarau o Māui, Shane looks forward to being able to contribute to enhancing the aspirations of the Board through the utilisation of kaupapa tuku iho, his iwi connections and networks within health, education, social services, community services, business, and housing.
