Support for procurement
As part of the Whai Rawa workstream, this programme supports both pakihi Māori and public sector buyers to engage more confidently, competently, and culturally in the procurement process.
We’re focused on building capability and unlocking opportunity. Through tailored mentoring, targeted workshops, a bid readiness programme, and a supporting video series, Te Ara Hokohoko helps demystify procurement, lift tendering skills, and connect Māori businesses to the pipeline of public sector contracts.
At the same time, we work with buyers to embed inclusive, culturally grounded procurement practices that are safe and accessible for Māori. Despite bold targets set by many agencies, procurement systems remain complex and difficult to navigate. We aim to close that gap, supporting pakihi Māori to step forward and succeed and helping the public sector become a better partner in delivering impact with and for Māori.
Te Ara Hokohoko is about more than contracts – it’s about growing Māori enterprise, strengthening economic resilience, and ensuring Māori are active, visible and valued in the economy of our region.
